Natural resource deterioration is rising as a result of the expanding world population. Large-scale mineral and oil exploration has grown since the industrial revolution, leading to an increase in the consumption of natural resources like oil and minerals. The exploitation of minerals has gotten easier thanks to developments in technology, development, and research. As a result, people are digging deeper to access more resources, which has resulted in a variety of environmental pollution.

An example of these environmental pollutants is air and water pollution. Air pollution results when harmful or excessive levels of gasses like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitric oxide and methane are released into the earth's atmosphere. The primary source is the industrial revolution , including factories, power plants, mass agriculture, cars, and the combustion of fossil fuels. 

The effects of air pollution include harm to human and animal health as well as global warming, which is brought on by an increase in greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere, which trap thermal energy in the Earth's atmosphere and raise global temperatures. On the other side, water pollution refers to the contamination of water sources such lakes, rivers, oceans, and groundwater. Every year, dozens of ground-breaking environmental technologies are developed, some of which are already suitable for mass production while others are still in the prototype and proof-of-concept stages. These technologies are ultimately linked by the ambition to create instruments that are sustainable for use by all people.

Here are a few instances of recent inventions that could affect and modify our environmental processes in the future.

Renewable Energy

Energy that is obtained from renewable resources, such as sunshine, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat, is also referred to as "clean energy." Through the use of tools like solar panels, wind and water turbines, modern environmental technology has made it possible for us to harness this naturally occurring energy and convert it into power or useful heat, which shows a highly positive impact of technology on the environment.

Electric Vehicles

a vehicle that is powered by one or more electric motors. It can be run on electricity from extravehicular sources, a collector system, or a battery to run on its own. Due to their lack of carbon emissions, which contribute to the "greenhouse effect" and cause global warming, electric vehicles show a positive impact of technology on the environment. They are also less damaging to the health of people, animals, plants, and water because they do not add to air pollution.

Smart Technology

Smart homes use gadgets like connecting sensors and other appliances connected to the Internet of Things (IoT) that can be remotely monitored and operated. In order to be as energy-efficient as possible and to adapt to user needs.

The availability of WiFi, Bluetooth, and smart sensors in more buildings and cities has led to an increase in internet connectivity, which has made environmental technology possible. According to experts, the notion of energy-efficient "smart cities" will be realized in cities of the future when every automobile, phone, air conditioner, lamp, and other device would be interconnected.

Direct Air Capture

The idea of removing carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere has been discussed in climate change mitigation research for years, but it has only just been put into practice and is still in the early phases of development. This is a slightly more ambitious technology.

The technique of directly removing carbon dioxide from the ambient air and producing a concentrated stream of CO2 for storage or use is known as "Direct Air Capture" (DAC) in environmental technology. The CO2 is then eliminated when the air is subsequently forced through a filter by numerous large fans. It is believed that this technology can be used to control pollutants from dispersed sources, including automobile exhaust.

The high cost of DAC, however, prevents it from being a solution on a broad scale right now, and other people think that relying on this technology could increase emissions since people could believe that all of their emissions will just be eliminated.
